Jang Geun Suk‘s first Japanese studio album, ‘Just Crazy‘, has been revealed to have topped Japan’s Oricon weekly chart!
Released on May 30th, the album topped the Oricon daily chart
immediately after its release. In its first week alone, the album sold
88,000 copies, which has secured itself a spot at the top of the weekly
chart as well.
Since Moriyama Naota‘s record in 2004, Jang Geun Suk
marks the first male solo artist to top both the daily and the weekly
charts in eight years, in addition to being the first male international
solo artist.
As remarkable as the feat is, he’s no stranger to topping the chart, as his first single release, ‘Let Me Cry‘,
topped the Oricon daily and weekly, which means that both his first
single and studio albums ranked at the top of the daily and weekly
charts. This was only accomplished by Uchida Yuki in 1994 and 1995, making Jang Geun Suk the first in nearly 17 years and four months.
In related news, Jang Geun Suk will be kicking off his ‘2012 Jang Geun Suk Asia Tour THE CRI SHOW 2‘ starting with Seoul in July.
